The Man Behind the Foundation

A life dedicated to compassion, perseverance, and lifting up others.

Anthony Jolly was a natural leader whose presence filled every room he entered. Known for his energy, warmth, and ability to connect with people, Anthony had a way of making others feel seen, valued, and encouraged.

Athletics played a major role in shaping who Anthony became. While he participated in community basketball leagues as a child, bowled in high school, and competed nationally in track and field throwing shot put and discus, football was his true passion.

Football grounded him, motivated him, and gave him purpose throughout high school. It taught Anthony discipline, resilience, accountability, and leadership — lessons he carried with him both on and off the field.

Beyond sports, Anthony had a heart for people.

In high school, he was involved in Best Buddies, a mentorship program supporting students with disabilities. Building relationships, offering guidance, and simply being present came naturally to him. Helping others wasn’t something Anthony tried to do — it was who he was.

As Anthony grew into manhood, his faith became deeply personal. He found community at Cityscape Church, serving on the welcome committee and allowing his faith to shape his character beyond athletics.

One of his favorite scriptures, Philippians 4:13 — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” — reflected the way he lived: with perseverance, humility, and trust in God’s strength.

As an adult playing football in the Blaze league, Anthony was becoming more than an athlete. He had a natural ability to lead with heart and to uplift those who needed encouragement most.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
— Philippians 4:13

The Anthony Jolly Memorial Foundation exists to honor that legacy.

Through scholarships, mentorship, and community support, we uplift students who demonstrate leadership, effort, integrity, and heart — students who may not fit traditional molds, but who show up, give their best, and inspire others along the way.

Anthony’s legacy lives on through service, faith, and love — continuing to strengthen others, just as he did every day.

  • He loved well, saw and accepted people for who they were, and made others at ease in his presence. While he had many athletic and academic talents, the biggest gift he offered others was himself.

    —Leigha Philips, Roosevelt Teacher

  • He was a regular in the weight room when I was in there working out after school. His personality made any room shine. He would be laughing, cheering on teammates, and even offering to put weights on my squat rack when I was working out or open the door for me. Everyone was drawn to him.

    —Lindsey Smith, Roosevelt Teacher

  • There were no strangers for Jolly - he was the kind of person you wanted to know because his smile lit up the room, his kind words instantly made your day better, and his general interaction could change your mood in the best way.

    —Andy Sutton, Roosevelt Teacher

  • A giant teddy bear who always had a smile on his face.

    —Terry Gioffredi, Roosevelt Teacher

  • Everyone loved him...I was lucky enough to become the Roosevelt principal when he moved to 9th grade. I only witnessed positive, fun-loving, caring behavior from Jolly.
